Esendex was founded by Adam Bird and Julian Hucker in 2001 in Nottingham, where the company headquarters is today. As text messaging for businesses was taking off, they made it their mission to build a high-quality SMS service.
We’ve grown by 25% year-on-year, welcoming business of all sizes including household names like Ocado, British Airways Holidays and Sky Sports – cementing our reputation as a leading CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service) provider.
Esendex is part of the Commify group which has made 18 acquisitions since 2003, has more than 45,000 customers and is responsible for sending more than five billion messages every year.
We embarked on international growth in 2017, buying SMSpubli (Spain) and joining with Mobyt (Italy) and SMSEnvoi (France) to create Europe’s number one business messaging company.
In 2023 and 2024, with the backing of our investors, ECI Partners, Commify acquired SMSFactor and Text Request to further establish our presence in France and the US, as well as continuing our international expansion.
In 2025, we launched Esendex Connect – a next-generation one-stop multi-channel platform and APIs which enable meaningful customer connections and conversations, simplifying your operations and driving up revenue.
