Esendex have released new security initiatives to help organisations and individuals from ever increasing cyber security threats. Following the recent roll out of fortified login and strengthened passwords, Esendex have now launched multi-factor authentication.
What is Multi-factor authentication?
As part of the added security initiatives, Esendex has introduced multi-factor authentication (also known as 2-factor authentication). When multi-factor authentication is enabled, Esendex customers will sometimes need to provide a second authentication factor before being admitted into their accounts. This will be in the form of a one time passcode (OTP).
How do I prepare for multi-factor authentication?
In order to use multi-factor authentication, Esendex customers need to ensure that their users have the following ready and available:
- A valid and unique email address
- Access to a mobile device capable of receiving SMS messages and/or able to use one of the many authenticator apps available (e.g. Google authenticator)
If you are an Esendex customer and do not have a unique email address or access to a mobile device please email [email protected].
What does multi-factor authentication do?
Multi-factor authentication acts as a login gatekeeper. Multi-factor authentication will monitor login behavior and automatically decide whether it needs to challenge users for additional login information.
How do I enable multi-factor authentication?
Initially, multi-factor authentication will be optional, however it will eventually become mandatory on the 21st April 2022. Therefore, it’s important that Esendex customers know how to activate it from within their Esendex account.
To enable MFA Esendex customers need to follow these steps:
- Login to your Esendex account.
- Click on your name in the top right of your screen.
- This will take you to your profile section.
- Then scroll down to the “Multi-factor authentication” section.
